The BESS Research Committee has up to £15,000 available to award annually in pump priming grants, to set up and commence research projects. The purpose of these grants is to encourage clinical research into shoulder and elbow disorders. Proposals for projects that are intended to be on the NIHR portfolio would qualify, as this pump priming grant would then allow the grant holder to access research network support to supplement this funding for completion of their project.
The pump priming grant application system will open on Friday, 15 January 2021. The closing date for applications is 23:59, Friday 30 April 2021. Successful applicants will be notified by 30 June 2021. Please note that dates are subject to change.
Eligibility criteria for applicant:
- Shoulder and Elbow consultants, orthopaedic trainees researcher supported by a shoulder and elbow consultant or an Allied Health Professional.

- Funding will be available for clinical research into shoulder and elbow disorders.
