Resources for all AHPs
Who’s who at BESS
BESS has AHP representation on our Board of Trustees ‘Council’, Education Committee and Research Committee.
Find out below who our current representatives are.
AHP Hubs
Our Vision
To establish a community of practice for AHPs with a special interest in shoulder & elbow. Geographically organised hubs would provide a long-term support network of peers, who can share knowledge, develop ideas and learn collectively.
Our Objectives
- To provide a link between the BESS board of trustees, the society’s members and potential new members
- To host regular meetings
- To provide a forum for knowledge sharing & education to promote best practice
- To support learning from each other’s achievements & challenges
- To promote collaborative working on research & innovation projects
The hubs aim to bring AHPs together locally in each region and are open to any AHP with an interest in Shoulder & Elbow, not just BESS members. Do you have colleagues who are unsure about joining BESS? Get them to sign up to your local hub, so they can see what we are all about.
Interested in signing up? The first step is to register for a BESS website account. If you are already a BESS member or you are a non-member that has purchased a course or event in the past you may already have an account and can login in via ‘My account’. If not, you can register below. Once you are logged in you can return to this page and request access to your preferred region.

Journal Club
A regular online journal club has been set up by BESS. It is hosted quarterly, by a nominated upper limb unit. Journal Clubs are open to all, free to access and you don’t have to be a BESS member. The full programme and registration links for 2024 can be found via the link below.
BESS-T
The BESS-T (Trainee) Group has been set up to support surgeons and AHPs who are in their early shoulder and elbow career. It gives access to BESS communications and educational initiatives. Click on the link below to find out more.
Research Grants
The BESS Research Committee has up to £15,000 available to award annually in research grants, to set up and commence research projects. The purpose of these grants is to encourage clinical research into shoulder and elbow disorders. Proposals for projects that are intended to be on the NIHR portfolio would qualify, as this grant would then allow the grant holder to access research network support to supplement this funding for the completion of their project.
