I am an Advanced Clinical Practice Physiotherapist and work split between primary care and secondary care on the Isle of Wight, specialising in musculoskeletal pathologies. In primary care, I work as an MSK First Contact Practitioner and in Secondary care, I work in an Upper Limb Orthopaedic Clinic which includes elective outpatient appointments and running a guided steroid injection clinic.
I initially graduated from the University of East Anglia before completing my Master’s in advanced clinical Practice at the University of Southampton. I am a proud father to four wonderful girls and enjoy cycling and running.

I am a Consultant Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist working as a shoulder specialist physiotherapist based in primary care. I have 25 years’ experience of working in the NHS and for the past 17 years I have worked at treating and supporting the rehabilitation of complex shoulder patients alongside those that require onward diagnostics, injections or surgical management.
I hold the post of BESS AHP educational representative and was fortunate to be awarded the BESS Copeland fellowship in 2024. I have a passion for educating others and was recently involved in the dissemination team for the FROST trial and patient recruitment for the PANDA- S Trial. Thank you for coming to support our first BESS AHP roadshow on the South Coast!

Dr Sarah Harrisson is a Clinical Lecturer in Pain Sciences at Keele University with over 25 years’ experience in musculoskeletal pain management. She is Principal Investigator of the NIHR-funded PANDA-S trial, which explores how a personalised approach to shoulder pain, led by physiotherapists, can improve outcomes for pain and disability. Sarah is an elected Council Member of the British Pain Society. Her work focuses on inclusive, patient-centred research and translating evidence into practice to enhance care for people with musculoskeletal pain.

I am Maciek Kaminski – Consultant Anaesthetist with special interest in Regional Anaesthesia, working at St Mary’s Hospital, Newport, IoW. My scope of work includes anaesthetising Upper Limb procedures and educating medical professionals and undergraduate students. I am involved at Pre-assessment in assessing surgical treatment feasibility for the most complex patients with multiple co-morbidities presenting for an upper limb procedure.
I enjoy outdoor activities – swimming, cycling and team sports – rugby, football and volleyball. That is why I am settled on the Isle of Wight. I could not recommend it more!

I’m a GP with a passion for musculoskeletal medicine. I graduated from medical school in 2014 then later gained a PG diploma in Sport and exercise medicine. I qualified as a GP in 2020 and have since worked part time as a GPSI in MSK for Orthopaedic Choice. I also work as a salaried GP at the busy central Southampton surgery of St Mary’s. Outside of work I compete in Powerlifting and enjoy watching and coaching football.

Ashley Simpson is a Consultant Peripheral Nerve Surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore, specialising in complex upper limb conditions including brachial plexus trauma and thoracic outlet syndrome. He is faculty on national and international education programmes, including the Executive Fellowship in Surgical Leadership at King’s Health Partners, and serves as Trustee and Chair of the Clinical Advisory Board for the charity Pain UK. His clinical practice is complemented by active research in artificial intelligence applications in nerve imaging and the development of a global peripheral nerve surgery curriculum.

Graduated from King’s College London in 2000 with a MSc in Physiotherapy. Worked at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS trust for 4 years before moving to Brisbane to study Sports Physiotherapy at The University of Queensland. Worked in Private Practice on Harley Street before starting full time role in British Tennis. Now a freelance specialist, focusing primarily on Tennis and Cricket with juniors and professionals. Worked with ActivForce for over 4 years as a consultant to develop protocols and education of best practice principles.

I graduated from Newcastle Upon Tyne Medical School and trained in trauma and orthopaedics in the North-East and Wessex. I then undertook a fellowship in Nice with Professor Pascal Boileau, specialising in arthroscopic shoulder surgery and arthroplasty.
I have been a Consultant Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon in Portsmouth University Hospital Trust since 2003. I was Clinical Director for T&O between 2019 and 2022, and Clinical Lead for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery since 2022.
I have presented and published on a variety of topics including elbow instability, arthroscopic cuff repair, and reverse shoulder arthroplasty. I received the Neer Award for Shoulder Surgery from the American Shoulder and Elbow Society in 2005 for work on reverse shoulder arthroplasty.

Helen Tunnicliffe is a Consultant and Advanced Practice Physiotherapist with a specialist interest in the upper limb, from the University Hospitals of Leicester. She has over 20 years of clinical experience, working in secondary care and leading an upper limb intermediate care service.
She is currently undertaking a Doctoral Clinical Academic Fellowship funded by the NIHR at the University of Leicester, looking to improve care for patients who have sustained a proximal humerus fracture that is managed conservatively, title ‘Patient led earlier mobilisation in COnservatively managed Proximal humErus fractures: COPE’.

I am a UK fellowship trained consultant orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in all aspects of shoulder and elbow surgery. I graduated from St Bartholomew’s and The Royal London Medical School in 2001. I was awarded an Army cadetship as a student and went on to deploy on operational tours of Northern Ireland, Bosnia, Afghanistan and Sierra Leone. I continue to serve in the Army, and have completed a Diploma in Trauma Surgery from the University of Swansea.
I trained in general orthopaedics as a registrar in the Wessex area, before undertaking specialist training in shoulder and elbow surgery as a senior clinical fellow at Southampton General Hospital, and the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford. I have presented research projects at regional and national conferences, and have several abstracts published in journals, including work on the treatment of frozen shoulder.

Katy is a specialist upper limb physiotherapist, working with people with varied and often complex musculoskeletal conditions at Wrightington Hospital. Katy also works alongside consultant colleagues in clinic, reviewing people following surgery and supporting long-term arthroplasty follow up.
Katy has just completed an NIHR funded research training fellowship, exploring the information needs of people with elbow osteoarthritis and is currently preparing a doctoral fellowship application. Her research interests include how information can empower people’s decision-making and improve their musculoskeletal health. She has published and presented at national scientific meetings.
